From Psalm 33: The Lord Looks

The Psalms often bring me comfort and remind me to trust Him. In parentheses below I added deeper explanation for some of the words from the Hebrew, using the Strongs Concordance. I hope it will minister to you.

The Lord looks (to regard with pleasure, favor or care) from heaven, He sees all the sons of men. From His dwelling place, He looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth. He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works.

The king is not saved by a mighty army; A warrior is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a false hope for victory; Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear (reverence) Him, On those who hope (stay, tarry, trust, wait) for His lovingkindness (mercy, favor, goodness), to deliver (defend, preserve, rescue) their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul waits (adheres to, awaits) for the Lord; He is our help (aid, to protect or surround) and our shield (protector, defense).

For our heart rejoices (is glad, joyful) in Him, because we trust (are confident, sure, careless/carefree) in His holy name.

Let Your lovingkindness (mercy, favor, kindness, goodness), O Lord, be upon us, According as we have hoped (stay, tarry, trust, wait) in You.”

From Psalm 116: In You Do I Put My Trust

I am so grateful that He is my refuge. I pray this will minister peace to you as well.

“KEEP and protect me, O God, for in You I have found refuge, and in You do I put my trust and hide myself.

I say to the Lord, You are my Lord; I have no good beside or beyond You.

The Lord is my chosen and assigned portion, my cup; You hold and maintain my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good heritage.

I will bless the Lord, Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory [my inner self] rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety,

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. [Acts 2:25-28, 31.]”

Adding this verse from The Passion Translation. I choose His joy, regardless of circumstances.

“My heart and soul explode with joy—full of glory! Even my body will rest confident and secure.”
